Winterization - $300

Winterization is an essential procedure for every outboard engine. As temperatures drop, the risk of engine damage increases significantly. During winter, residual water in the engine can freeze leading to engine block damage. Additionally, water or acids from oil breakdown in the engine oil and gear oil can lead to rust or etching of bearings, gears and housings.

The fuel system can suffer from condensation and fuel breakdown, resulting in poor performance when spring arrives. By winterizing your outboard, you ensure that all components are protected, helping to prolong the life of your engine and maintain its reliability.

The Winterization Process

The Winterization process primarily involves several key steps to prepare your outboard for cold weather. First, we run the engine on a portable fuel tank with a mixture of fresh fuel and fogging oil to protect all the engine internal surfaces.

Next, we replace both the engine oil and gear oil as old oil can contain water and contaminants that will damage the engine and lower unit. Then we replace the boat mounted fuel water separator that usually contains water that can freeze or rust the filter housing internally causing problems in the spring.

We grease all steering fittings to prevent the steering from seizing while not being used. We add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank to prevent fuel breakdown and keep the fuel clean.

Finally we inspect the battery system and spray entire motor with corrosion protection to ensure they are ready for spring.
